June Jaeger - Featured Quilt Artist

June lives near the small Central Oregon town of Prineville, at the foot of the Ochoco Mountains, where the juniper and the pine trees meet.  She studied Art Education and Veterinary Science at Cal Poly and Oregon State.  She was introduced to quilting in 1969 by her sister, Jean Wells and began teaching quilting in 1980.

In 1993 June opened “Log Cabin Quiltworks” in Pendleton which in 1998, she later relocated and reopened as a pattern business in near Prineville.  She has designed over 20 patterns for Prairie Girls, 11 designs for Creative Iron of Sten Source, and 20+ patterns for her own business.  She recently began designing for the Stitching Post in Sisters, Oregon.  She designed the 2010 raffle quilt for the Sisters Quilt Show.

June teaches quilting at a few local quilt shops but mostly she teaches at seminars and retreats throughout the U.S. and Canada.  She has been published in numerous books and magazines.

A few of her quilts have won awards at a number of different National quilt shows.  Recently, her “Vision of Horses” won Judges Choice at the Northwest Quilting Expo and Honorable Mention at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Fest.

June occasionally dyes her own fabrics to suit her needs for her style of pattern designs.  She treats herself to taking classes on dying, design and color as there is no end to the possibilities out there.

June still cuts her own firewood and is still obsessed with quilting and teaching.  There are so many quilts to design and make.  She loves to draw and loves to quilt!  She loves horses and the outdoors and she loves to share with people!  These are the foundations of her life, inspirations for her patterns and classes.

Lecture Description:  "Inspirations"

Using her quilts as the subjects, June shares the inspirations for each quilt.  Some are nature, animals, places and people.  Others are shapes, colors, moods and more.  You will see the changes in styles, techniques, and use of color.  Her quilts are her life.  June loves to share and answer questions.

Workshop Description:  "Expressions"

The cost for the 2 day workshop is $90.  To sign up for the class, please contact Mary Pluhta.  A class supply list will be given out upon workshop payment.
